Description: The
High School Skills class is designed primarily for students who are
transitioning into 9th grade from middle school. This class will provide
instruction in math skills and concepts, effective writing strategies, reading
skills, as well as effective study and learning skills and how
to give oral reports. Students
may earn .5 elective credit for the successful completion of this
class. Students may also choose to take this class on a
“no-credit” basis.
Important:
This class could be
cancelled if enough students do not enroll. Please register early.
Registrants will be notified by telephone before the first day of
class if the class needs to be cancelled because of insufficient
enrollment. Anyone who paid tuition will receive a full refund.
Grades: Students who
complete all class expectations will receive a Pass (P). Final
grade transmittals will be sent to each student's high school
registrar by September 1. Students who do not pass the class will
have an F reported to their registrar.
Credit: Students can
earn .5 elective credit for successful completion of the class.
Requirements: Regular attendance,
homework completion and compliance with the summer school code of
conduct are expectations for all students.
Time: Classes will be held
from 8:00 AM until Noon.
Dates: July 7 through July
31, 2008.
Location: Classes are
held at Henderson Bay High School, 8402 Skansie, Gig Harbor.
Transportation: Limited
transportation services will be provided this summer. Contact
the Transportation Department for more information at 530-3900.
Campus: Henderson Bay is a
closed campus. Students are expected to remain on school grounds
during school hours. All guests must report to the office.
Non-student guests and visitors (with the exception of
parent/guardian) will not be allowed in
classrooms and may not remain on campus. The parking lot and
surrounding area is off limits to individuals who are not enrolled
in summer school classes and will be asked to leave.
Food and beverages:
Vending machines are available at Henderson Bay or students may
bring their own snack for the mid-morning break.

available from middle school counselors or on line.
